Role Purpose

Two exciting opportunities to support community and social enterprises to access the right finance and business support in the North and Midlands.

This well-established social investment organisation, operating in the Midlands and the North of England, provides finance, both flexible loans and blended grant/loan packages, to community and social enterprises to help them to start up, become sustainable and grow. Key Fund’s objective is to remove traditional barriers to finance for these enterprises which are often located in disadvantaged areas and are all too often turned down by mainstream banks.

Key Fund is seeking two enthusiastic professionals with business lending and transaction management expertise with a high degree of commitment to customer service and excellent networking skills. Experience within the social sector is also desirable.

Key Responsibilities

Proposition Development

  • Develop a pipeline of leads to deliver KFI targets.
  • Respond to and manage enquiries and applications.
  • Manage client relationship to Panel and complete due diligence on applications, following KFI process.
  • Write investment reports and present them to Investment Panel.
  • Ensure all records are accurate and up to date as per company processes.
  • Post Panel prepare documentation.
  • Check documentation when returned by Client.
  • Manage disbursement of funds.
  • Transfer account to relationship portfolio.

Client Relationship Management

  • Manage a portfolio of c60 clients.
  • Collect and collate monitoring evidence (financial, impact and output) as per the company processes.
  • Ensure all records are accurate and up to date as per company processes.
  • Work with clients in difficulty and provide regular reports to the Finance Team as per the processes, including delinquency reports when required.
  • Support actions to recover funds when required.

Intermediates Relationship Management:

  • Leverage network for referrals.
  • Raise profile of Key Fund with professionals & other Intermediaries.
  • Manage list of Tier 1 and Tier 2 contacts, ensuring regular updates.

Events and Marketing

  • Events – attend a minimum of 1 per month.
  • Support or deliver Workshops / Master-classes.
  • Support the planning and implementation of sales and marketing campaigns.

Administration and General

  • Support business planning.
  • Ensure accurate file management.
  • Contribute to contract returns and reports.
  • Maintain up to date systems e.g. Sentinel.

Skills and Experience

A high degree of commitment to customer service is required for this outward facing role and so you must be an excellent networker with high levels of social confidence. However, whilst many aspects of this role are sales orientated, it’s the ability to work with clients to find the right solution for them in line with the mission of Key Fund that is most important.

Candidates will need to be highly efficient operators, able to be flexible and adaptable to change. The role will require you to work independently, but also as part of a wider team, with a willingness to play a part in the ongoing growth and development of KF. You will be expected to work with colleagues to develop/share best practice, with a real commitment to personal development.

  • Proven experience of transaction management in a financial services environment, including the coordination of: sourcing, development and assessment of investment proposals (loans and equity); after care services; external relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Ability to ensuring that company processes are followed in order to meet contract compliance, consistency and transparency in all activities.
  • Management of own portfolio of clients and development of grants/loans and or equity applications to values up and including sums up to £150k.
  • Ability to ensure the appropriate assessment of individual applications against risk standards, identifying areas of weakness and development.
  • Able to assess own portfolio of applications and analyse a range of Financial Statements in order to assess risk.
  • An understanding of risk assessment and willingness to take and share risks with community/social enterprise organisations (on behalf of Key Fund).
  • IT Skills – Proficient in word, outlook and excel.
  • Good, all round, education.
  • Excellent presentation skills and ability to present information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Valid driving license, own transport. Willingness to travel around the region.
  • Business support qualification or equivalent.
