Role Purpose

This is an excellent opportunity to advance your career as a specialist recruitment consultant and become an important member of the C4C team, driving talent into social sector organisations that play a crucial role in supporting communities and addressing the climate crisis. You must be a recruiter with experience in social impact investment, financial services, and/or familiar with the charity and social enterprise space.

Working in a niche specialist recruitment consultancy, you will have the opportunity to lead recruitment processes for various disciplines and liaise with our clients across the social economy, including social investment firms, foundations, trusts, social enterprises, and charities. You will also work closely with the Director of C4C to build our long-term strategy, reinforcing our values and fostering our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. You will help to strengthen our reputation as the leading recruiter for social impact/investment jobs and cultivate strategic partnerships within the sector to help expand our client base.

Key Responsibilities

Client management 

  • Oversee and lead the complete recruitment process for designated roles, from initial client briefing to interviews to the final job offer, working with and supporting the People and Talent Directors/HR Managers at various organisations to plan and coordinate the process
  • Contribute to the scoping of job descriptions and ensure that they reflect the organisation’s values and commitments, with a clear explanation of the requirements of each position.
  • Use creative sourcing techniques to build effective candidate pipelines that identify and engage both active and passive candidates from diverse backgrounds. You may use social media, job boards, database searches, candidate mapping, referrals, and networking, or new automated HRTech tools if deemed appropriate.
  • Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders in the social sector and proactively manage expectations.
  • Work closely with C4C team members on recruitment drives where necessary.

Candidate communication

  • Professionally organise and lead pre-interviews with candidates, ensuring that you thoroughly assess them during shortlisting before presenting them to clients.
  • Keep strong candidates on your radar and build talent pools for current and future vacancies, entering the data on our CRM/ATS system.
  • Be responsible for ensuring a positive, fair, and inclusive experience for all candidates applying to social organisations through C4C

Organisation responsibilities

  • Manage candidate information using our CRM/ATS system and ensure that our system is updated with candidate data during and after each recruitment drive.
  • Openly discuss the recruitment processes with the Director of C4C.
  • Support the wider C4C team, including the Director, other consultants, Social Media Executive, Web Developer, and professional associates working with C4C.
  • Identify opportunities to develop the C4C brand and reputation, and grow our client base.
  • Ensure we work with the wider sector to learn from each other and support sector initiatives, including those around inclusive recruitment practices.
  • Research and implement new techniques to identify talent and keep abreast of HR analytics tools to assess the impact and effectiveness of our recruitment strategies.

Skills and Experience

Essential experience

  • Extensive experience as a specialist recruiter with a proven track record of implementing creative solutions for talent acquisition, managing multiple roles at any one time, and meeting tight deadlines
  • Experience in recruiting across a variety of disciplines and levels of seniority
  • Highly developed interview skills with an ability to screen for key competencies and values
  • Excellent research skills, with attention to detail and vigilant about where we can improve recruitment processes
  • A commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and fairer recruitment practices
  • Competent in the use of recruitment and selection channels such as jobs boards, social media, and CV databases
  • A keen interest in the emerging sector of impact investment and/or an understanding of the not-for-profit, social enterprise, or charity sectors
  • A strong sense of social motivation and passion for positive social change

Desirable experience

  • Agency recruitment experience, or in-house, preferably within the social sector (e.g., agency experience at consultancies focussing on diverse recruitment or not-for-profit/ B-corps OR in-house at a social impact investment firm, charity, trust, foundation, or civil society office, etc.)
  • Awareness of legal issues and GDPR with regards to contracts, offer letters, employment references, and candidate data generally
  • Adept with Bullhorn as a CRM/ATS platform

  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks
