Role Purpose

This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and manage the operational delivery of all products and funds for external capital managed by Big Society Capital, following the launch of the pioneering Schroder BSC Social Impact Trust (SBSI) in December 2020. SBSI is a £75m investment trust with ambitions to grow to £300- £500m over the coming years. It has a full listing on the LSE and is jointly managed by BSC and Schroders.

Key Responsibilities

Team Co-ordination and Leadership

  • SBSI has been operational since December 2020 and involves all teams across BSC. This role is responsible for driving overall delivery and ensuring that all teams and staff work efficiently together to complete the work necessary to run a listed investment vehicle and a high standard of client service
  • Responsible for maintaining and managing the regular tasks of a listed investment vehicle, including regulatory tasks and regular reporting
  • Responsible for any other work identified and requested by the SBSI Board/IC and the BSC Board/Board Committees/IC

Working with Schroders and SBSI Board

  • Build and maintain a good working relationship with the SBSI Board and key Schroders stakeholders, as AIFM and Manager of the investment trust, including delivery of quarterly board reporting
  • Lead BSC response to Operational Due Diligence reviews undertaken by Schroders
  • Provide risk management oversight of SBSI to Schroders (including risk framework and stress testing)
  • Manage all reporting and any ad-hoc tasks requested by Schroders

Investor Communications and Reporting

  • Schroders teams provide investor communications and this role will ensure that all information needed by Schroders is provided in a timely and accurate way
  • Ensure that the Portfolio valuation process is effective and correct information is provided on time
  • Ensure consideration of regulatory aspects (e.g. Financial promotions) of all public/external communications including adherence to agreed BSC Policies

Internal Reporting

  • Managing the internal BSC reporting of SBSI activities from the perspective of BSC’s role as Delegated Portfolio Manager of SBSI, including BSC Board/ARCC and Exco reporting and regular production of KPI information

New Products

  • Building systems and processes that will be necessary for BSC to launch additional products in the future

Skills and Experience

Essential experience

  • Experience of operational leadership and excellent delivery in a financial services firm
  • Middle office experience in a financial services firm
  • Experience of launching new investment products
  • Team management experience, including managing staff from multiple disciplines
  • Experience of working with Boards and Committees

Desirable experience and skills

  • Experience of working with a UK Listed Company, in particular UK Investment Trust experience and knowledge
  • Knowledge of the Listing Rules and requirements
