Location: London with some remote working (home-based for initial set up)

Contract: Permanent, part-time, some flexibility, 3 days/22.5 hours per week
Salary: £45,000 per annum FTE (pro-rated £27,000)

The successful candidate will focus on managing the business of TPFF and leading the strategic development and roll out of TPFF’s grant giving programme with the aim of improving the wellbeing of vision impaired children and young people across the UK. The charity is funded by a permanent endowment, primarily consisting of managed investment properties, and supported by professional property managers, so the role will include co-ordinating with the property managers to monitor the income generated by the property portfolio.
This is an exciting opportunity to make this role your own as the very first Executive Director of a newly emerging major funder in the sight loss sector. You will be influencing and leading in the setting up of all operations and systems, supported by the trustees. You will then establish the grant application and review process.
TPFF needs someone dynamic and committed to their aims and values, and they are prepared to be flexible over working conditions in order to recruit the right person to lead the organisation forward.
- Leading the strategic development of TPFF into a robust and resilient grant giving organisation, working closely with the board of trustees.
- Co-ordinating with the property managers and investment managers to monitor the income generated by the property portfolio and other investments (no property knowledge required).
- Leading on the initial set up of TPFF, including management of a range of set up activities such as oversight of the website and IT development activities, recruitment of a new administrator role, selection of serviced office space, and establishing appropriate policies and procedures (with suitable outsourced service providers where indicated).
- Developing appropriate grant application and monitoring processes, reviewing grant applications received, and making recommendations to the board of trustees regarding grant awards.
- Increasing the awareness, profile and understanding of TPFF and the grants with parents, young people and relevant service providers through effective promotion and communications.
- Building relationships with relevant sector partners to develop and maintain a good understanding of the sight loss sector and to help build awareness of TPFF’s activities.
- Leading on business and financial planning for TPFF and supporting the board of trustees to ensure sound governance of the charity including management of risk.
- Reporting on performance (financial and impact related) to the board of trustees and externally.
- Attending board meetings and providing administrative support to the board of trustees.
- Ensuring all policies, procedures and systems are compliant with relevant good practice and legislation.
- Developing effective and compliant data and record keeping solutions, e.g. selection and implementation of a new database/CRM system.
- Liaising with accountants to ensure financial matters are managed effectively in relation to payroll, management accounts, statutory accounts and any other requirements.
- Managing the Grants and Finance Administrator to ensure work is prioritised effectively and clear guidance and support is given.
- Leading on other activities as may be deemed necessary.
